The South West Gauteng TVET College, in partnership with Food and Beverages Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority (FoodBev SETA), invites South African youth to apply for the Centre of Specialisation (CoS) Apprenticeship Programme 2026 – First Intake.

This is a structured 36-month occupational apprenticeship designed to produce qualified artisans in critical engineering trades.

Trades Offered – 2026 Intake

1️⃣ Occupational Certificate: Fitter and Turner

Campus: Molapo
Positions Available: 25
Duration: 36 Months

Fitters and Turners specialise in machining, assembling, and maintaining mechanical components used in industrial machinery across manufacturing, mining, and engineering sectors.


2️⃣ Occupational Certificate: Mechanical Fitter

Campus: Molapo
Positions Available: 25
Duration: 36 Months

Mechanical Fitters install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery such as pumps, turbines, and heavy equipment.


3️⃣ Occupational Certificate: Electrician

Campus: Roodepoort West
Positions Available: 10
Duration: 36 Months

Electricians work on electrical systems, industrial installations, infrastructure, and energy systems.

Minimum Requirements

For Fitter & Turner / Mechanical Fitter

You must have:

  • Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics (technical subjects advantageous)

AND one of the following:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Fitting and Turning (21 subjects completed)
    OR
  • N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering (including Fitter and Turner Trade Theory)

For Electrician

You must have:

  • Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics (technical subjects advantageous)

AND one of the following:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Electrical Infrastructure and Construction (21 subjects completed)
    OR
  • N2–N6 Electrical Engineering

Additional Conditions

  • Applicants must be under 35 years old
  • Preference may be given to students from South West Gauteng TVET College
  • All applicants will undergo assessments
  • Successful candidates must sign a formal apprenticeship agreement

  • Comprehensive CV
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copies of qualifications
  • Proof of address
  • Proof of bank account
